Is My Intermediate Pipe To Low??

Here are a few pictures of my "I" pipe from the rear...along with my cutout. I'm thinking of getting my car lowered about 2 inches with Eibach Sportline Springs. The exhaust shop installed the cut out...which required cutting some of the "I' Pipe out and weldng in the Cutout. Is this something a Muffler shop could fix without have to get a new "I" pipe installed and then having the cutout installed again? If I have it lowered..how the exhuast is right now....I don't even see how the car would roll without scraping the exhaust...everywhere you go. What do you guys think?

looks pretty low man. you could probably lower it a little bit and be fine, but i think 2 inches and you'll be scraping all the time. might just be the angle of the pics though. how many inches off the ground is the lowest point?

Mine was as low as yours is now. And it was scratched accordingly. I was redoing the whole exhaust system, welding on flanges and stuff ... and now the intermediate pipe is nice and snug under the body but doesn't hit anything. I would raise it, especially if you want to lower the car.

Just my $0.02.

well its way too damn low. You got it all wrong , you need to have the cutout put where the stock cat was and have the rest of the exhaust raised up . You'll rip that sucker off it you lower it with the exhaust hanging that low.

Mine was fine until I put on the hooker 2055 system. Now mine hangs like yours, but not quite as low.

Why do you say I have it all wrong? If I had a single cat...I probably would have had it installed there....but I have dual. Plus, both of my cats are gone...so I wouldn't gain anything...whether it be infront or after a cat.....because there are no cat's on my exhaust system

I'm not wanting to redo my exhaust or anything...I was looking for opinions to see if this could be fixed somehow. I can't remember how low the exhaust was before the cutout was installed

Im pretty sure he ment to put the cutout where the cat was because of the "hump" in the floorboard where the cat was so thered be room for the cutout. I too think thatd be your best solution for ground clearence. That I pipe definately is too low.

So....you guys are saying...unless the cutout is moved to a different location...I can't lower the car? My "I" pipe can not be pushed up anymore? I know a few guys that are running a complete 4 inch exhaust....and they have their cars lowered....with no problems of anything hitting. If I have to move the cutout....I'm not going to get the car lowered....I'd have to replace the "I" pipe, I'd have to rewire the cutout...all kinds of stuff...and it probably wouldn't be worth it. I'll probably take it up to a few exhaust shops to see if they could somehow raise the "I" pipe. Does anyone have any pictures of a 3 inch exhaust system...so I can tell how far the "I" pipe is supposed to go up?

You should raise the exhaust whether or not you get it lowered.

I've got a hooker 2055 setup in front, with a 3 inch cutout right after that, a 3 inch catco cat following that, and a 3 inch hooker catback.

I've scraped it once coming out of a parking lot after having it for 2 days.

My dad sometimes scrapes the tips on his flowmaster setup on the 91 GTA.

Before you think about lowering it, raise the exhaust.

agreed, but moving the cutout to a different location is not an option. Now, if the cutout, would have to be removed and welded in..at a different angle....I would go for that.

See, I'm not sure exactly why my exhaust is hanging so low. I had the cutout installed along time ago. I then had a set of headers put on....and had to have a muffler shop custom bend all of the exhaust where the cats used to be. So....either the cutout is welded in wrong...or the pipe(s) where the cats used to be is weldied wrong...making the whole exhaust drop like 3 inches from where it's supposed to be......
