Catalytic Converter???

Catalytic Converter???
OK....I just installed the Edelbrock TES down to the cat.. I went to put the cat on and it is way short, it doesnt reach the old bracket. The cat is a Magnaflow 16 in Universal I think. Do i need a new Cat? Im confused and worn out. Did they give me the wrong one at the auto store?
