ok, i'm ditching the duals, too many problems and i want to go back to a stock configured exhaust. I've got a 383 so i need it to breath. So I thought I'd ask ya'll for opinions. I was thinking about the Hooker cat back exhaust, I'm just worried that 3" will be too small for my motor? I have Hooker Comp headers pn 520-2460, but i cannot find a y-pipe on any of the sites. do ya think ya'll could help?

i found the hedman y-pipe on summit, it says it will fit most standard shorty headers...would that work? It's only $98, that's why i ask....anyway i guess i'll let ya'll give your opinions first.

i believe that the hedman y pipe is only 2 1/4, and for most people they want at least a 2 1/2 y pipe.

The hedman pipe is a complete piece of crap. Most people have fitment issues with it, I didn't but it is really restrictive. It is better than stock, but not by much. Just too small imo.

Assuming the 383 is making some decent power, I would want a minimum of single 3 1/2" exhaust.

My next exhaust system is going to consist of single 3 1/2" with a cutout for track duty. I will be selling my dual exhaust setup if anyone is interested pm me. Dual 2 1/2" w/ x pipe and bullets setup for hedman shorties.

i had the same y-pipe woes for my 383. nobody makes a good one. so i ordered up a bunch of mandrel bends and welded up my own dual cat 3" y-pipe with a pair of carsounds. it takes a bit of work but its worth it.
