SLP Header install kit questions
I am wondering if I need to buy the Header install kit from SLP for the 1 3/4 headers for my 89 GTA. Below is a picture of the install kit. The items i circled i was unsure about.
The red sleeves are fire sleeves, and i think the plastic clips in the lower circle are for them, but what are the fire sleeves for and do i need them?
Also, what are the items in the other circles. And what are they for? Thanks.

The 3 circles in the middle, far right. It's a bolt and nut to attach the oil dipstick to the header.
I bought the kit too, and it didn't have most of that stuff, but it was for NON emmisions headers with no air.
In my opinion it was a waste of money. The black oxide bolts have all rusted and need to be replaced.

What about the fire sleeves, are they necessary, and what abou the metal fitting and the other two small rod looking things.

List of stuff circled in your bitmap file.
If I were you I would ask around and piece together the install kit. It's cheaper that way. I have a list of all parts involved. I believe Ebmiller did a post awhile back about the very subject. Do a search.
- 2 fire sleeves - not necessary they just add protection to sensors
- 4 plastic hose clamps for AIR tubing (actually just heater hose)
- bolt for dipstick
- nut for dipstick
- 90-degree elbow adapter for the fan switch - not neccessary just, nice to do

The metal fitting (elbow) is required to house your sensor. Without it, you will touch the header. The company made the install kit for a reason and if you decide not to use it, then why buy it?

What about the items circled just to the right of the fitting?

Sorry I forgot to include the short pieces of CPVC tubing used as couplers in the AIR system in my list.
Here's the link to Ebmiller88's post, link
86z/92rs, I have known several people of this board that have not used the elbow adapter.

It's like all kits for anything. It's a convenience. Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. I bought the kit since it was my first time installing headers.
I wouldn't buy it again, but like I said.....it may be VERY worth it for a first time job. And for that matter, you can piece the kit together yourself, with only the stuff you need or want, and it'll be cheaper.
...but inconvenient

Personally i'd just buy it...if you try to peice all the parts toghether i found it would just cost more...its a rip but it costs money to get stuff for our cars...I was satisfied with the kit and my slp headers
