true duals?
okay so i have preaty much decided to go with true duals on my car, '83 camaro, but a few question if poss
1. am i right in saying that i need long header to run a true duel system
2. what diameter pipe would work best from the headers, i know 3" seems popular but would 2.5" be adequate , its a L48 350 engine with holley carb but is due for performance heads and performance camshaft
3. i see that some people recommend a X section in the middle of the system on true duals. why is this ? and is it needed
4. is clearance a major issue ? if so then is jacking up the rear an inch or so possible
sorry for all the questions but i have looked at most of the recent posts but am finding it all a little confusing

Long tube headers are not necessary for duals. But, duals are very commonly used with long tubes.
2.5" should be adequate for what you've got and most anything you have planned.
The X section helps mellow out the exhaust tone and helps power. They seem to help regardless of the setup. Getting one under a 3rd gen and retaining ground clearance can be a challenge, however.
The clearance problems come in the center of the car. Raising the rear isn't going to help much.
