On my LO3 if i take off the air system will it produce a code.

 

Under normal circumstances, no it won't.

 

I took the AIR system off of my '90 L98, replaced the AIR pump with the GM idler pulley, taped up the connectors, put pipe thread caps (w/ anti-seize) on to the AIR injecton manifold on the exhaust headers (SLP w/ AIR pipes), and the computer (GM ECM) was fine. sure cleaned up the engine appearance and accessibility a lot. didn't affect the performance, good or bad.
