Full exhaust system

I am putting my car back together from doing a engine swap from a 305 to a 355 and I want to get my exhaust done, I called a local shop and they want to charge me 300+ dollars to run from the headers a single pipe to my exhaust and then split it from one pipe into to going to the mufflers. From what I remember that was the way that the stock system was and I really dont think that the price was fair... I have been looking in the summit mag for a full ehaust system and I was wondering if anybody had purchased one from them? I wanted to run true's but they tell me there is a problem with clearance with our cars ( which I already know ) but I was thinking something on the lines of a H pipe or something like that. Can anybody help me with this? I am on somewhat of a budget so I dont what to spend alot of money.

By the way I have shorty headers and my car is a 84 Z.

Put the Dynomax Super Turbo cat back on my 88. Was the single cat three inch deal. Fit up perfect. Sounds just a bit too loud for me but the Catco converter and headers made it a good bit louder. Well satisfied with this deal. $300 for the whole system as you described is probably not bad, lot of tricky work to it, but maybe not the best way to go.
