V8 cat on a V6??

I would assume that if you go to the part store that they are two different ones probably...is this correct? I was just wondering if a V8 one could be used on a V6? I have to replace it soon because it is making a horrible rattle and just got the idea that if we do do an engine sway in the future and it turns out to be a V8 then we would already be ready and not have to replace it a second time. COuld there be any potential negative effects?

Would this work?? Or am I just dreaming

Don't know what car you have, but just go to www.autozone.com and input your car specs (vehicle) and check part numbers for a V8 then go back and change to V6. I'd guess that for the same pipe size, the converters will be equal. Might first check the heat shields on the exhaust, they will get loose and make some racket.

If the V8 converter is of larger size, the V6 exhaust may not get hot enough in the stock location to heat the converter up to a working temperature range.
