Will this exhaust system work?
Ok, I just purchased a 1983 Z-28 with the 305 cross-fire fuel injection. The car is in desperate need of an exhaust. Based upon all my reading, it looks like the manifolds and y-pipe are the restricting factors, so I'm looking to replace the entire system.
I'm looking at the ti-tech coated Edelbrock tes headers with y-pipe (p/n EDL-68723), catco 3" cat slip fit inlet & stock flange outlet (p/n CTO-9118), and hooker cat-back exhaust system (p/n HOK-16823HKR).
Questions are
1.) Will this exhaust system perform well? Anything else out there I should consider?
2.) Will this fit onto my 83 Z-28? It's called out for a 86-90 TPI cars with the 3" cat, but as long as I replace the entire system at once, I shouldn't have any problems, should I?

Yes and yes.
Although if I recall correctly a friend of mine had issues with those headers rubbing on the passenger side. I'd recommend the hooker 2055s, which are the most popular shorty header.
Also, some like the hooker sound, some don't. Take a listen in the exhaust thread and determine what you like the most. With the power your car is putting out, don't worry about flow - all catbacks will give you pretty much the same gain. Just pick what sounds better.

Ok, it looks like the 2055's are in my budget and I've been reading that the install on these is a little easier so that's a plus
What's the difference between the hooker cat back p/n hok-16820HKR and p/n hok-16823HKR?
Is the flowmaster kit that everyone is running p/n FLO-17233 with the 3" i-pipe?
