Hey fellow SoCal'er!

Are you asking about replacing the catalytic converter or the O2 sensors?

You only need to replace either part if you fail a smog test because your emissions are too high. The cat-con will really reduce your emissions while the O2 sensor is what gives you great fuel mileage and makes the car perform its best while cruising. If its been 30,000+ miles since the O2 sensor was last replaced, then I would go ahead and replace it.

Just the Cat. Like Kevin said if you have high milage on your O2 sensor than you might want to consider replacing it.

Just for reference, high mileage on some brands of O2 sensor is ~30,000 miles.
