A few questions

I think that I have finally decided on an exhaust system, but I have a few questions before I go out and spend the money. I am planning on going with Hooker headers part# 2460 (I was going to go with the 2055s, but I don't need the air tubes) and then hook that up to y-pipe#16767, also from hooker, and then up to Flowmaster Cat-back part# 17233. I probably won't run a cat right now, I don't have to go through emissions until October, hopefully they scrap it. Now for the questions:

1.I am going to be putting on Global West subframe connectors (I have already brought these), does anybody know if these will interfere with this exhaust?

2.Seeing as the outlet on the y-pipe is 2.5" and the inlet on the cat-back is 3" I will have to get a step-up piece, is this correct?

3.The headers are for a Gen I small block, now I am pretty sure I have a Gen II, its a '91, please correct me if I am wrong, will these fit?

4.Will the 2.5" y-pipe significantly hamper the flow and power output?

5.Will this be overkill, underkill, or just right for my car? It is a daily driver, and I hope to get out to the strip on some weekends.

Any help would be appreciated, the "performance and parts guys" around here don't know anything if its not in the cataloge (they said my car has to be an '83 if it has 2 headlights, an '82 has 4 lol) and you guys really know your stuff.

Thanx in advance.

I'd personally just go with the 2055s anyway. The slightly higher price is justified when you see the beautiful y-pipe that opens up to a full 3" after the collector.

I honestly don't think having the y-pipe reduce to 2.5" is going to hurt your engine's power that much at all, especially not enough to make it really noticeable. However, if you ever get serious with racing your car and your engine recieves more upgrages, the power loss is going to become more apparent between 2.5" and 3".

Your car has a first generation Chervrolet small block. The second generation SBC are known as the LT1/LT4. The third generation are known as the LS1/LS6.
