Replacing dual-cat y-pipe with single cat??
I searched a little but couldnt find it...I was wondering if it is possible to replace a dual cat y-pipe with a single cat y-pipe? Im probably buying my buddies 89 Firebird 350 TPI, and its a dual cat car, but the y-pipe needs to be replaced. The dual cat stuff seems to be less abundant and more expensive, so if I can replace it with a single cat y-pipe without much work I might just do that. Any opinons?
Thanks,
Chris

I've done it. I went from stock dual cat to slp headers with single cat and I already had a dual cat dynomax intermediate pipe so my exhaust guy just had to cut up a couple mandrel bends to make the y-pipe mate to the intermediate pipe. I think mac or slp sells a single cat y-pipe that bolts to stock exhaust manifolds.
