dumb question
im blowing whitish/grashish smoke out of my tailpipes and believe it is the smog pump, i just want to make sure that the smog pump could be the cause of this problem before i go pulling it and buying a new one. so can a bad smog pump be the culprit of my whitish/grashish smoke thats being blown nearly all the time?

whitish/grayish would indicate that coolant/water is getting into the combustion chamber. you've got bigger issues than a screwed up smog pump.

When does it smoke? All the time, or just on startup? If you can, go and see what the smoke smells like also. Very easy to tell if it is coolant or oil.
