hedman headers and stock y, or hedman y-pipe ?
I have the old school hedman 68470's, I guess these had a slip fit rather then the ball and socket?
Anyway, my stock y-pipe looked pre-modified, so I thought i'd just get the exhaust shop to modify it again to fit the headers (they fit the manifolds fine). I figured just shorten, maybe rebend the y-pipe, and add the right collector bolt flange.
Dropped off the car last night, they assured me they've done hot rod exhaust before, not just mufflers on tercels. They call me this morning and tell me they "can't" modify my stock y-pipe to fit those headers, and rest of exhaust. I have no idea why. I told alright, well what are my options? He said they would have to make up an all new y-pipe, I told him I needed exhaust, do what you have to do. He checks with his "bender/fabricator" who tells him he can't make up a y pipe for my car. I asked him again, what are my options? Should I buy the hedman y-pipe? And he said that probably wouldn't fit, he's had flowmaster full "bolt on kits", that took 5hrs labor to make it fit...
. I ended up hanging up with the assumption that i'm going somewhere else, or running open headers, because they basically won't touch the car.
Now that i've dealt with complete incompetance.....
What are my options here? It looks like the hedman 17470 fits the old style headers, and the 17478 fits the newer ball and socket style. Is that right? Should I be able to just bolt that in, and bolt right up to my cat?

yea, that looks like the route i'll be taking, my local speedshop mopac has the 17470 sitting on the shelf for a cool $120.
anyone have a picture of what part I would want to cut, and size up?

I have the 17470 and they have the 3" collector, then steps to a 2.5", because the Hedman headers I'm running has a 3" collector on them.
