3" dual extensions??

Well I have been researching this the last week or two and I thought I had it all figured out. I was going to run hedman long tubes with 3" hedman extensions to 3" flowmasters then dump it just before the axle. I live in Ohio and my car is at my parents home in michigan so when I ordered all of the parts I had them sent to where the car is. Now my Dad has been messing with it and he says that the extension on the passenger side will not fit because it is hitting the tranny and frame.

I searched under several different subjects and everything came up said that it should work, however almost every person that ran duals with the extensions used 2.5".

Is he right or is he just not looking at it the right way?

If the 3" extension will not fit the will I be able to modify it to work?

So if there is anyone that has done this before let me know what I have to do and what I need

Are these the "S" extensions or just a straight extension?

I am using the s-extensions, I should also point out that my headers and extensions have a ball flange.

I have Hooker long tubes with the Hedman "S" 3" extensions but I don't have any problems with fitment on mine...I don't have a ball flange either though. Regardless, any exhaust shop will be able to modify the extensions to work just fine, ground clearance could become an issue but nothing major.

i have been wondering the same thing. i have searched and looked at a lot of exhaust pictures and found only a few pictures with long tubes and hedman x-tensions but the car was never on the ground to show ground clearance issues. does anyone have pictures of the whole extension on their exhaust that shows ground clearance, or even some more feedback on how these are as far as fitment goes?

If you check the dual stickie there is a member there with 2.5" duals, that has a side pic. It tucks close, and the exhaust hangs about 2.75" under the tranny xmember at the lowest point. So a tape measure would tell you how much you would have.

As far as the 3" extentions go, see if you can possibly cut/bend the lip of the tranny Xmember, or is it hitting the tranny, and theres no way to make it not? If you modify the Xmember, be sure to reinforce it again.
