log manifold question

ok. im new to this site, so hello everyone. from what ive seen its a goldmine of smallblock information and ive got a few thousand questions. i should start by saying that im not working of a camaro here. im working on an s10 with a 305 in it. ideally its not my first choice of motor, however, it was given to me so the price was right. im running an l03/t5 combo with a 3.42 rear. the engine is one big question mark to me as far as the internals are concerned. im on a limited budget here so the goal is to make decent power out of the 305. i know it can be done. so my first question is: are their better log manifolds than the ones that came with the l03 from the factory? if so what car/truck am i looking to pull them off of?

my problem is im limited to log manifolds. its tight under the hood and i NEED the collectors to dump between 5 and 7 on the left and at an angle out the back on the right. just like the l03 manifolds do. at the moment headers are out of the question as i would have to modify them to get around the slave cylinder.

Actually they sell headers for putting a small block chevy into an S10, it's actually a common swap. Just search around on ebay or hell google it. Something will come up.

Might even try summit racing or jegs.

i know they make them. ive seen a million and a half of them in person, on ebay, and all over the internet. they'd bolt right into the truck with no problems. the problem i have with the headers is the left hand collector runs right into the back of the slave cylinder, roughly an inch away. the remedy for it is to cut the collector off and weld it at a 45 degree angle facing downward. then redo the pipe. the problem is id have to put out cash to do that, plus put out cash to make sure the hydraulic line dont get cooked, etc.

besides, barring the manifolds, i have a pretty good exhaust system on it now. dual 2 1/2" pipes, high flow cats, 40 series flowmasters, tailpipes dump right in front of the rear wheels. the whole thing isnt more than 6 feet long. its the manifolds that are holding me back. would the manifolds off a police package 350 be bigger? or are they the same piece?
