Aerochamber....too quiet?
hey guys I FINALLY got aroung to getting my headers and catback in this week and from the sound of things I think my aerochmaber is quieter than my cheap *** Imco that I had on there.now don't get me wrong the power increase is awesome but I still wanted a little more rumble from it.will it get better with age?

Probably not, but you will.
If you have a power increase and it's quieter, where's the downside?

well I didn't want quieter, even though it does seem to have gotten a touch deeper in sound I really don't like the way it sounds. Is there another muffler out there that performs as good as the aerochamber but sounds better?

lol are you kidding me... my aerochamber is anything BUT quiet behind my 355 and headers, you must not be very heavy on the pedal, mines very loud and sounds real clean and clear, not all choppy(besides my cam).

Give it about two weeks or so, it'll change... mine got noticeably louder over the first two weeks. Its not abnoxious loud, even now with my headers, big cam, high compression 350, but it did get louder than it was when first installed.

I love my areochamber. It is not obnoxious loud, but has a really nice rumble to it. I have had multiple compliments on the way it sounds, before and after the headers. Give it some time before you throw it away.

Have you guys noticed that they seem quieter when cold, but get louder as it's warmed up? the crossflow one i just installed on the Z24 is doing that.
I'd like to put a set on my T/A but i like my Flow 40's too much

This is why muffler selection is so subjective. I had the 3 1/2 inch Aerochamber on my car and thought is was to loud. I have since installed a 3 1/2 Magnaflow muffler which is much quieter and is just right for me.

Well it has been a couple of days and it seems to be getting deeper.I'll let you know if it gets any better.
It depends a lot on the rest of the engine and exhaust.
My previous '89 IROC with a pretty much stock L98 was fairly quiet with the Aerochamber catback even with a gutted cat, but a guy who lives around here (350Z on here, I think his name is) has one on his L98 with a large cam, Miniram, AFR 190's and headers, and it's quite loud, lopey, and very intimidating. The heads make quite a difference as well as the cam and headers.
