O2-sensor question

I have now some hedmans installed. The O2-sensor sits at the end of the header next to the flange to the y-pipe connection.
Is this location to far away?
The sensor is throwing a code and I'm not sure if the sensor is broken or the location is too "cold".
Would switching to a heated sensor help any?

Thanks
Patrik

Shorty style headers, right?

Shouldn't be a distance problem for the sensor. Either wiring or bad sensor. Did you put in a new one when you put the headers in?

Yes, shorties

No, it's still the old one in there.
The mechanic told me that he had no problem taking it out so he was positiv that this one still works.
But its still the first sensor I think...

On the other hand, he told me that there was an extension wire with the installation kit. This could be also a problem!?

Make sure the connections are all snug. If so, I'd guess you need a new sensor. The old one could have been on the edge before the headers, and now is over the edge.

ordering a new sensor would probably be the best anyway, so I'm sure that all is in perfect condition.

Thanks for your help!

Just wanted to give you a heads up... I would order an AC Delco sensor. Those $20 Bosch sensors that you can get at AutoZone are just terrible.

You are so right! The guy at the shop took some "no name"-sh*t and all I got was a rough ride because that thing didn't work well.
So I ordered an AC Delco et voilą: runs smooth and no more ses lights!
