I put my shorty headers on a little while back, not sure of the brand(they came with the car), their either hedmans or flowtechs, but ever since they went on, I have this sound that sounds just like an exhaust leak where the 2 pipes come together on the Y-pipe. I've been all over that exhaust, all header and flange bolts are tight with no leaks, and the sound seems like its inside the pipe at the Y. Anybody ever had this type of noise b4? Its very annoying, kinda like an air rush sound. I'd love to get this sound out.

If you don't have cats with headers you'll tend to get this sound. My long tubes and 3" non-catted Y-pipe does it REALLY bad, it's probably better with your shorties. It sounds like a loud exhaust leak, but it isn't. I went all over mine as well just to be sure. It's just part of the fun of owning headers.

You were sure to tighten the header gasket bolts multiple times after you installed the headers right? Rule of thumb to tighten header bolts: after 3 trips, then a day, then 3 days, a week, a month, every 3 months.

every car with headers i've ever listened to does this noise. much more prominently on LT/ORY setups though I've noticed.

I have the converter on it and the stock 2.5 inch exhaust. I was afraid i'd have to live with it. Oh well, thanks

That noise is the exhaust gas leaving the cylinders. The reason you hear it is because headers are muy thinner than cast iron manifolds, which tend to muffle the sound. Welcome to the world of 16 gauge metal tubing...
