Just out of curiosity, why would you want to ditch a set of stainless steel 1 3/4" headers for a run-of-the-mill LT's that will

A) Most likely cost you some low-end torque
B) Most likely cost you some ground clearance
C) Definetely cost you extra $$ on having to get a custom ypipe/duel exhaust made for you

You're saying your current ypipe is smashed all to hell. I'm assuming it's because you don't have much ground clearance correct? Now that's with shorties, just imagine how low it'll be with LT's.

I say keep the SLP's. They're the "cream of the crop" when it comes to headers for 3rd gen Fbodies. The 1 3/4" primaries will flow more than enough to support any amount of HP your likely to make. They're stainless steel so they'll never rust out and it would be much more cost effective to just have a new y-ipe fabricated for you.

From personal experience owning a 600+HP bottle-fed 4th gen, unless you're making 500+HP, stick with shorties.

LT's are good for nothing more than bragging rights.

Don't get me wrong, LT's are sometimes the only way to go when you're building an all-out street/strip car. But really, it all depends on the application and what your plans are with the car. In 99% of circumstances though, I always reccomend shorties over LT's.

Just my

Good luck with your decision either way.

the slps are 1 3/4" but 2.5" collector with 2.5" y-pipe.
