Facts on performance mufflers.
Hey guys,
I have an 88 IROC-Z 350 that has developed a huge hole in its OEM muffler. I am looking to invest in a new performance muffler. I have checked the sticky link above regarding the best performance muffler, but it seems more focused on sound preference. My question to my fellow ThirdGeners is if anyone here knows hands down which performance muffler brand has been proven to yield the most horsepower when placed on a stock V8 engine, (preferably an IROC)? When I mention proven, I'm talking about true factual numbers, like dyno test results and stuff. I can't afford an entire cat-back system, so I am just purchasing the muffler, tailpipes, and new tips. I am very limited in my budget, so I am looking to score the most horses for my money. Thanks for any imput, guys.

Using the stock manifolds and i-pipe you're not going to pick up much power from just a muffler. Maybe a few hp if you're lucky, but really if you actually want a performance upgrade just get a good quality catback and do it right the first time. Otherwise, get whatever you think sounds best based on clips posted here.
