whos running angle plug heads and headers

Ive got a serious problem with my headers and heads. I keep burning the wires. Im running SLP headers and AFR angle plug heads. I already know that its not a good fit but I need to know what other headers will work with these heads. I either have to sell the heads or the headers. I like my slp headers since they are stainless. Will the 2055 or 2460 headers work? My only other problem is stepping down to a 1 5/8" header which I dont like.

I had the same problem and I found that the hooker longtubes are the best fitting header with the afr angle plug heads. I had the slp 1 3/4 headers and I was pissed to find out they did not clear. I was a bit unsure on how I would like the longtubes but, they fit very well. I don't know of a shorty that fits. the slp try-y was my next guess/try

I think you're going about this the wrong way. I think you need to look into different types of wires/boots that are heat resistant, I know there are manufacturers out there that have seen this problem and made products to solve this problem. Also look into heat wraps for the wires/boots. Also look into wire looms that will guide the wire away from the header tubes. I've seen the SLP's installed on both straight plug and angled plug heads and I've seen other people run into problems of burning the wires/boots. They all used heat wraps to solve the problem. But with some ingenuity and the right parts I'm sure there are other ways to solve the problem. You can also use these wraps for other wires that get close to headers, example the 02 sensor wires or the Fan Switch wires.

I'm running straight plug iron L98 heads and Edelbrock TES, wires are the MSD 8.8's w/ 90 degree boots, and I'm using a Russels Wire Loom (not a good fit with MSD 8.8 plugs BTW). But so far I haven't had to use any wrap and I got no heat problems. One big thing that might contribute to my results are the fact that the headers are ceramic coated, makes a huge difference.

I already have the plug boots wrapped up with fire sleeving AND those 6" long fire boots on top of that. Thats double protection and it doesnt help. The problem is that the very corner of the boots are right up against the header tubes. Even w/o the sleeving it is still about 1/8" away and it just burns it up. I am also using those Accel shorty plugs. The longtubes are kinda out of the question. For what its gonna cost for long tubes, custom Y pipe and a new tune of the computer, I might as well just buy the same heads with the right angle on them and then sell my old heads.

My next step is to try those Acell Extreme 9000 wires and see what happens.

or...... find a welding shop and have a small section of the primary tube replaced with one that has a bend to it..... I know it sounds like a big deal but, a good shop should have no problem doing this for alot less than burning up set after set of wires. If I remember mine only burned two of the plug wires (7,8?) anyway even if it ment cutting the bend out and adding 1/4" of SS tube befor the bend would make all the differance on how well it cleared
