o2 Sensor?? Help please

o2 Sensor?? Help please

Hey guys, i am having a real hard time getting my old o2 sensor out of my car. it is lefty loosy righty tighty, or is it a reverse thread? i have tried everything, even when the exhaust was hot! I'm about to get my blowtorch out >.< i don't know if it is the original, but it has a purpleish wire from it. I have used wrenches and vise grips... this thing just does NOT want to move

Anyone else experience this problem?

spray some of that lube crap on it wait a couple minutes and try as hard as you ****ing can. i had my manifold off and had to put it in a vice and use channel locks to get mine out.

spray wd40 let it soak in and spray again and then maybe again before waiting a few minutes and try to remove...but be sure to spray it when the engine is cool

yea wd40 isn't for breaking anything loose...its just to stop squeeks and lubricate a little. pb

You said removing your old O2 sensor, so I am assuming that you are replacing it with a new one. If the lube/ penetrant spray isnt effective, I would remove the connector and use a torch to heat up the threaded nut that the sensor threads into. When it is glowing red get your wrench, or even better, one of those sockets for O2 sensors and apply leverage. Over the years rust and corrosion have built up on the threads beteween the sensor and the pipe. Heating that part of the pipe up will cause it to expand slightly larger then the threads of the sensor which will allow it to break free. Working with older exhaust systems can be a PITA sometimes. I would soak it in PB Blaster for a couple nights, then get the engine nice and hot running. Kill the engine and jump in there with an O2 socket and get yourself as much leverage as possible. You should be able to get it with enough leverage.
