Help! Need to replace my Banks Exhaust

Well, after many many years my Banks 3" exhaust has had it. The tailpipes rotted off last year and the bend before the muffler is swiss cheese which is a nogo for Vt inspection... I loved the throaty tone the banks exhaust had and got many comments about it. I searched out the replacement banks stinger system that out and can you believe the company that sold them I contacted by phone. The quit making them and ran out the day before! He had two on order and only one had come in and they told him that morning they had no more! WHAT ARE THE FREAKIN ODDS?!! So now I am stuck looking for an awesome throaty exhaust on a three kids budget aka not a lot o moola. The stinger was only 350 bucks for the cat back system. Everything I have seen that people have liked has been more toward 800-1000 bucks. Hard to justify for a three month summer driver when you need the cash for the family...Any suggestions out there? If I decided to wait and save are there any particularily good header exhaust packages that don't require large amounts of modification? I have a 305 carburated 84 TA. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
F Small

At one time SLP had a catback similar to the Banks. It was a 3" in and 2-21/2" out. Don't know if they still make it but it may be worth a try. This is not their loudmouth.

I know what you mean about the Banks exhaust. When I had it on my TA, I had more compliments.
