middle of header install ( help )
Fitting my hedman headers on a '87 iroc and i have come up against a few problems on the drivers side.
the drivers side headers is in but i'm stuck on what to do with the big black power steering bracket . the bracket used to bolt onto the first two manifold bolts and then the power steering pump was bolted to that but now the headers are there there is no provision for bolting this bracket in place and also the bracket will not slide over the first primary even to get in position , i do not own a digital camera so no pics available ( i hope i am explaining myself ). how did you guys get around this ??
Also the pipes that are still inplace from the AIR , the metal ones that run around the engine and into where the cat was , are in place still the drivers side is hid away okay but the passenger side sticks right out . Is it okay to just chop it back and bung it up ??
thank you

do you still have your A/C? I cut mine off at an angle to leave the first manifold bolt hole open and put a short bolt through it to hold it in place. If you still have your A/C then i would try some grinding out the oval and see if it will slide into place. You could also try some threaded rod and use about 3 nuts 1 for the header flange and the other 2 for the bracket for your power steering.

The A/C is in place but it needs regasing.
yeah i think you've got theright idea there. i'll chop the right hand side of the bracket off and use one of the old bolts to bolt the bracket to the first bolt.
Man my hands are sore this morning from installing the drivers side, i hope the passenger side goes in a bit easier.
hardest part of the job so far is getting the old manifolds off. i didn't have a problem with the rear bolt next to the A/C , i just used a tiny ratchet and 14mm socket from under the car.
