advice?
hey all, looking for a decently priced 3" header back system, havent picked out the headers yet, so basically im looking for a nice exaust system that i can run with out selling my house...lol i am for sure going to run the flowmaster muffler and possibly going to drop the cat. Anyone ever had a 3" custom made at a shop? price? thanks!=)

The price of a custom 3" system will be more than what you'd pay for a bolt-on aftermarket, and probably not as good of quality. Same for a y-pipe, so get headers that come with one.
The best starting point is to get parts for the '86-'90 TPI single-cat application. This means headers, cat, and cat-back. I'd highly recommend Hooker 2055HKR headers (good headers, best y-pipe out there), something like a Catco 9118 direct-fit cat (if you need one - if not, then a piece of 3" straight pipe), and since you want a Flow, a Force II p/n 17151 cat-back. There are better cat-back systems out there, though (mostly because Flowmaster doesn't make the best stuff available - sorry, but it's true, and it's what I've got myself).
This is going to be the least expensive and best performing approach. And, you can install it all yourself with common hand tools. Getting an exhaust shop involved is only going to raise the cost, without raising performance.

right now i have a flowmaster 80 series and i am curently in the process of switching because its not that great of an exhaust system and its not 3in... definitly go with the hooker because it comes with the 3in y-pipe and will be better than any custome fab job and cheaper, as far as cat back im going with borla but thats expensive, 600 from jegs, but its stainless steal so it will last longer than the other exhaust systems and it has custamizable sound plates. The borla system also has many parts which i think will make it easier to install your self than a system where the i pip is conected to the over the axel pipe and it wont take long. Thanks
Well money is my biggest issue as of right now... im currently in the process of buying edlebrock shorty headers and y-pipe, and i've always loved the flowmaster tone both inside and out. now im only in the dilema of cost...its a slow process if u everend up selling that muffler or cat-back let me kno
