Hooker Cat Back...again

hello everyone, im 18 years old as of feb. 8th, and thats also when i recieved my 1984 z28...this thing is awesome...it has the L69 (i think) 305 in it. i have always wanted a third gen...but because my uncle owns a ford dealership it was hard getting over the hump....now on to the good stuff. i was thinking about getting the hooker cat-back that they offer at summit for like 299. i have heard good things about it but was wanting to know more about what it sounds like...im not into the loudest sounding thing out there but i do want a "respectable" sound and tone. please some one tell me about this and if they would recommend it, i am also curious about the pacesetter "kat-back" that summit has as well, and also what that sounds like....thanks

welcome to the site..
Always check the stickys at the top, there is alot of useful information. There are sounds clips and information about each catback system. I would recomend the magnaflow catback, its a little more expensive but its all SS and has a very nice tone from what ive heard.

I have had both and i liked the magnaflow but i love the hooker most people around me dont have it so thats nice to, it has a nice rumble at idle and screams when you jump on it and it doesnt crackle when the revs are coming down like most mufflers do or maybe its just me but i like it alot

Go with the Hooker. If you are not replacing the catylitic converter or headers at this time than make sure you order the cat-back specific to your engine code application. The difference in the kits is how they mate to the cat (the cat type and flange changed over the 3rd gen production years so they (Hooker) make the same cat-back with different mating features on the end of the I-pipe). Good luck and happy modding!
