oval port on d port

i was wondering if the heads or headers were modified, if a set of oval port headers will fit on d port heads. ive realy not got the money for a new set of headers right now.

I had problems with the Hooker header shorties (2460s) fitting on dport LT1 heads. Had to grind down and sand down the headers a little bit. If Hooker would have made the area flat to begin with, I wouldn't have had any problems. Instead they had "rings" around the ports that stuck out a few fractions of an inch and were not flat with the header flanges that sit against the head.

Well it depends on the size of the header. If the header is too small and does not have any area to seal on the D port you can just weld up the header and resurface the flange so it is flat again. Just like Firebat was talking about.

But you could really hurt performance if too much of the exhaust port is blocked. Usually a D port head has the exhaust port raised a bit so the ports are not going to line up the best.

Also do not use a raised gasket (like ultra seal) to seal the header. Get a flat gasket.
