Need help and part numbers.
I have a 1984 trans am and it has a trans planted 350 from the early 70's, I need some part numbers for a set of headers with no air, everytime I try to find headers to fit my app the people tell me (well the car came with a smog pump so these are the headers you need) No they are not...my car no longer has a smog pump...lol! I also need a part number for a 3" Y pipe, I plan on having a 3' system all the way back with a flowmaster dual 2 1/2" out that my local exhaust shop will install.

There is one outfit that makes a true 3" y-pipe for our cars - Hooker. And, the only way to get that y-pipe is in a set with their 2055HKR shorty headers.
Yes, they do have the A.I.R. fittings. Big deal. Don't need them? Cut them off at the weld, weld it shut, and use a die grinder to grind off the piece of pipe sticking inside the primary tube. "But I don't want to pay extra for something I don't need," you say. Well, if you want headers with a 3" y-pipe, this is going to be the least expensive way to do it.
Let's see why that is: You want headers without A.I.R. and with a 3" y-pipe. Okay, start with Hedman 68470 headers, no A.I.R., no y-pipe, $145. Great, they make a y-pipe for them, 14178, $120. Now you're at $265, but wait, the y-pipe is only 2.5" outlet. Okay, you get the Flowmaster 2.5"-in/3"-out "Y", that's only $40 - just cut off the "Y" from the y-pipe and put that in, then a 3" mandrel bent elbow over to the cat - well, that's another $30. Oh, you don't have a MIG welder, guess you'll either need to buy one for $400 or take this all to an exhaust shop to have them do it. Personally, I haven't gotten out of an exhaust shop for less than $100 for a simple job in years, one more complicated like this is more likely to be $200-$300. Hmmm, how much were those 2055HKR's again?
Same story for Hooker 2460HKR's and their joke of a y-pipe.
Get Hooker 2055HKR, whatever else you need from there on back using '86-'90 TPI as the application for what you order.

Re: Need help and part numbers.
Thank you for the great info...I guess it would be alot cheaper to cut the air tubes off and weld them. Do you have a part # for the 3" y pipe from hooker? I tried searching google with no luck.
