2055HKR intall pics, comments

I just completed installing the Hooker 2055HKR headers on my '88 Iroc. I thought maybe people might be interested in some photos and some comments of the job. To start with I had a # of objectives::
-install the headers
-while there also install GMPP 1.6rr's
-relocate the heater valve
-do the coolant bypass @ the throttle body
-finish w/ new valve covers.
well I managed 4 out of 5. The rr's will have to wait as there just wasn't to be enough time. This is one LONG TEDIOUS PITA JOB!! and I've done a lot of work on a lot of cars over the course of 30+ yrs driving. Everything took me 34 hrs working time. Now that includes an hr to the muffler shop and another to the parts house so I'm at about 32hrs. I had thought long and hard about this project, ya know like what order to do things, what tools are going to be needed, making sure I had everything material wise. It's just sloow and tedious. Don't get me wrong now, I'm happy with the finished product. I haven't had it on the road yet but will tomorrow. Tonight was just warming it up and checking for leaks and such. So..any way here's some photos, I got a bunch of 'em from start to finish and underneath too!

so the photos above are the beginning, followed by breaking the original y pipe and cat loose and getting the a.i.r. out of the way, pulling the valve covers and getting the manifolds off. Getting the r/s header in place required some creative cursing but gentle nudging and prying and a finish with one shot from a rubber mallet to land it in the hole
