First report on Vortex
Installed a pair of 3-inchers on the '57 to replace the Summit fully weldeds of the same size I ran last year. Same 2-1/2" tailpipes after.
They aren't as quiet as I had hoped, but certainly quieter than the Bullets of days of yore. They are probably slightly quieter at highway cruise than the Summits. When you get on it, they wail. Still quieter than the Bullets, though. And don't pop & crackle under slight acceleration on the surface streets (good when coming home half an hour after midnight after the Friday racing).
Hope to get out to test & tune Saturday to see if they have any effect on performance. From what I could tell from the brief test drive, they don't.

Drag strip results:
I'm declaring a no-test. Carb problems.
Didn't have any problem hearing the engine through the helmet going down the track. Far from the loudest thing out there, though - often couldn't hear it running with the car next to me making its noise.
Still wish they were quieter.
