Dual Cat woes

B4 I start I did search here and checked Google, Summit and Hawks.

Heres the deal everybody. I have a 91 GTA 350 TPI with the Dual Cat setup and a deleted AIR injection (No Emissions here), and I was wanting a set of headers for it but everwhere I go it has Single Cat, Single Cat, Single Cat . With the exception of the Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust system which I did not include because they are AIR injection.

So simple question really. What shorty headers and y-pipe can I use / should I use? I have no problem with Headman, Hooker or Summit brand. I dont really care. Its just the Exhaust shop wants $400 to fab the Y-Pipe . Only if I could weld tubing hahaha.

Re: Dual Cat woes

If you have no emissions regs there why are you even going to keep the cats?? Just yank ALL thet smog garbage out and run a set of long tubes with a duel exhaust. If there are ecm/O2 questions there are ways around that too.

Re: Dual Cat woes

I may be moving to Colorado soon and I didnt want to blow my chances of passing emmisions. BTW she passed W/O the Smog pump in the Albuquerque Metro city limits. But I registered her outside town for the No Emissions so I could play...Emission shops open the hood/do an inspection. I didnt need that headache.

Re: Dual Cat woes

If your looking to keep the cats but want headers without the air tubes, the only ones that I know of are SLP's, but those are becoming harder and harder to find any more. Plus since they are harder to find, the price has been going up on the ones that are there.

I think Hedman actually makes all the pieces you want but it's hard to tell for sure if it's all available under one part number since their website/catalog is a POS. Give them a call.

Re: Dual Cat woes

the easiest thing to do is to just get a single cat header kit and run an aftermarket 3" cat and be done with it. A single 3" cat will probably flow better thanyour stock duals anyway, plus it will make your life a lot easier.

Agreed I have a dual cat Z and running dual aftermarket cats and my 3 1/2" Mufflex catback has been a real PITA. I'm running 2 1/2" tubes from the SLP shorties to 2 1/2" Pypes cats to a 2 1/2" to 3 1/2' flowmaster Y pipe to the 3 1/2" I pipe to the Spintech muffler. Ground clearance is really a problem. I think it would have been easier to Y before the cat and use a 3 1/2" cat. I need to re-engineer it somehow maybe put the Y just in front of the axle and run two 2 1/2" pipes angled in the tunnel to get my clearance. I got to do some brainstorming though.
