Tx Emissions Failed, 3.1 V6 1991 could it be the EGR?

HIGH SPEED EMISSIONS (25 mph)


Standar Current Reading

CO (%) 0.67 0.95

NOx (ppm) 848 1508



LOW SPEED EMISSIONS RESULTS (15mph)

HC (ppm) 124 157

CO(%) 0.69 1.36

NOx(ppm) 937 1352

O2 sensor?
egr valve?

where the air pump hoses hook up to (the small one)?

Run some seafoam throught the PCV valve thats on driver side valve and pour the other half in the gas tank drive the car through a tank of gas and take it back to retest and let us know what happens. Sounds like theres a lot of Carbon build up. Thats the black stuff that makes the emmisions higher.

Ive never tryed that. So remove the hose to the PCV and pour it into the drivers side valve cover or turn the hose upside down and pour it in that way. Would like to try this.

You don't need a smog pump at all, to pass the test. Visually, you should fail, but it's more than likely they won't notice. Just leave the rump on, but pull the pulley. No empty bracket, no pulley missing a belt...



Just put on a new $50 cat. My cat was 1 year old, no smog pump, no AIR tube, and my #s were almost non-existent!
