I bought an 87 Irocz and i want to make it as very very very loud.

dont use any mufflers, that will make it loud. Also, if your state doesent have emissions, cut the cats out too. Headers will make it louder, especially if you keep straight pipes behind them.

No. Do whatever you want, but one experience that left a big impression on me: I was driving a rental Ford taurus a few years ago, w/ the gutless 3.0 24v motor, and both of my parents in the car. A big V8 SUV w/ tinted windows, chrome wheels, and a super loud cat back exhaust pulled up next to us at a light and was revving. Despite my mother's protesting, I ran him all out when the light turned, his weak little V8 blasting up to redline as I got so far ahead of him that I changed lanes in front of him and continued on.

If that's what you want to be, that's fine.

If he's asking how to make it as loud as possible, its stock. If you are worried about going fast, noise just comes naturally, you are not going out of your way to make it. And that's the god's honest truth.

Those 24v fords are ****ing fast. I used to love driving my buddies taurus SHO.

But I think my LO3 would probably hold with it pretty good around town. Oh the highway - his taurus and his maxima both rape me in the ***.

slow firebird, u need exhaust (header to tips) open element and a lt1 cam and a decent set of gears.. so you can stop embarssing us thirdgenner's by racing maximas and such. or sell that beauty to me. and ill throw in a real pontiac 400..

No no no, not the SHO engine. The regular 3.0L 24V in a newer taurus is rated at 200 hp. it does 0-60 in the 8 second range. Not fast. Well I guess "fast" depends on what you are comparing it to

I need a job first. But then I need new vortec heads, and a vortec-TBI intake manifold.

I wont do exhaust untill I can afford heads, because I am still too paranoid of breaking a manifold bolt and having to miss work or school because I dont have a car anymore.

Plus I wanna get the EBL and learn tuning before any of that.

Any 1 who spends money on a taurus SHO or not should get his head checked I dont care if it runs 9s its still a taurus o well to each his own I guess but the day you see me in a taurus look in the sky there will be pigs up there flying around.......

I have a low mileage 03 Marauder, which is basically a high 14 sec crown victoria right out of the box. So I understand the fast 4 door craze.

My experience is my car is faster with the full exhaust on than it is with the headers open.

I know it's his car, and he can do whatever he wants with it, but the sad reality is whatever one does reflects on all the rest of us. There's no difference between us in the public's mind.

He didn't mention fast, power, efficiency, tone or anything of that kind, he just wants loud (attention). Never mind what I think he has the IQ of a herring, to answer his question, just hacksaw the exhaust system off just before the Cat. Very very loud you will be in about 15 minutes. You will also be slower.

If you want somthing bolt on and obnoxious get a mufflex 4 inch system and then instead of using the supplied muffler put in a piece of pipe...

327- Im not knocking fast 4 doors Ive had a lot of fun in some wicked 4 door stuff I was just saying a front drive taurus is a front drive taurus and not really worth dumping money into to modify I guess if your going to drive a taurus a SHO would be the one but who wants to drive a taurus

Why not just get a set of hooker headers and a flowmaster cat back. Then instead of using a cat buy a summit cut out and electric butterfly valve. That way you can switch between what is basically open headers and a full exhaust. I've had hookers shorties and a flowmaster american thunder on my car for the past 3 years and now that its a 355 with no cat the thing really starts to talk when you lay your foot into it. But the nice thing about the 80 series mufflers is that the exhaust note is nice and deep not raspy like some other systems also if your driving like an old man infront of a cop you can barely hear the car.

Another option, is longtubes, but it would be more work. My buddie had a 80's El Camino 305 with a holley and mild summit cam.

He had cheepo longtube headers, and ran 2 medium length cherry bombs right off the collecotrs, and then had turndowns under the rear floor. It sounded amazing!

Where can you get vortec heads and a vortec TBI intake manifold to match?? just wondering if you knew.

Its plain and simple. If you want it loud and don't care about anything else, including legality, chop the exhaust off right before the cat and your done. I drove like this for 2 weeks one time before I got my exhaust. You WILL get sick of it, but it will sound like armageddon coming around the corner. Wont even sound all that good, you will find.

i did the same thing but for afew days.
it sounded pretty cool for the 1st 5 - 10 mins. but after that. your head starts hurting. and having the exhaust coming threw the window if your windows are rolled own.

Okay get the cats out. Thats the worst part of it. If you have some skill and money get some longtube headers. Once you do that get a good muffler. Something with a nice tone. Then get a cutout like me right at the rear axle of the car. I bet my system can be as loud as anyone on here, yet i can keep her quiet when im not in the mood for noise

The electric cutout idea is smart, be noisy when you want to be, or quiet when you need to be.

bro check it out just do like i did buy some headers off ebay for around 60$ more than likely flowtechs which i love! i dont care what any of you say...and put duels 2 short cherry bombs coming out both sides with some chrome tips sounds Fuc**** fantastic oh and slow_90firebird dont worry about breaking any bolts just wd40 the hell out of the blolts and let them set for a few day and they be fine two take out. my 305 has 86k miles on it and i was suprised my manifolds bolts was they easy too break loose

That's kinda where I'm at too. I don't think I'll pick up my 2055's (or dyno don's) until after I get the heads. After that, who cares about breaking bolts! I'll freaking sawzall that sh** off the old heads!

What the hell are you talking about? I own a Marauder. It's a 4.6 DOHC. It has good power but is by no means fast in such a heavy car. All of the panther cars have rear air bags, it's so you can put a lot of suit cases in the trunk when you are going to the airport.

if you want noisy, my 84 formula came with long tube headers out to 4 1/2 side pipes all the way under the doors.. that bitch was loud and i could be heard a mile away at the least. but that cars long gone.. never got any tickets but i always pissed off my neighbors at 7 am on a sunday lol

Its a hell of a lot better sounding than the stock and imo its a hell of a lot better looking as well....and by the way i dont know if you know this but lol, if i was you befor i spent 600 or more$ on a custum exhaust i would of got that shi* painted first Brother, and mabie some wheels, and then mabie armerall it up a bit. good luck with that project Brother!

what are you talking about get my car painted or put wheels on it? i have mickey thompson et drag wheels, porbably cost more than your whole car, and the paint job is pretty nice too. price 'em out big man...i EASILY have $1700 in wheels and tires. i'm a big fan of budget built cars, alot of my stuff is very budget friendly. but when i went to buy wheels and tires, i went big to reap the benefits of a no kidding drag wheel. my two back wheels/tires weigh less that ONE of his cragars. you gotta pay to play.

it is a known FACT that when you mod a tbi car you have a chance of SLOWING IT DOWN if you do not tune the car for the supporting mods.

look, i may have been a little harsh initially, and i'll even go as far to take it back, PUBLICLY, but i will NOT put up with someone saying my car is a piece of crap, when all can see it is not. saying things like i need paint and wheels when my car has a nice paint job and obviously nice wheels. i have been dealing with the "red-neck" misnomer since i starting building these cars back in '99. i want everyone on this board to agree and see that these cars can and are badass.

perception is 99% of fact in one's mind. i see the tips goofy chrome tips sticking out from the gfx 6" and automatically think "red-neck". right, wrong, or indifferent, this is how i see things. i even went on to say that the car looks like he OBVIOUSLY enjoys it and takes care of it. sorry i worded what i did the way i did.
