duals on 89 RS

305 TBi me and my buddy who works at meinke are going to fab up some duals for my camaro tomorrow. Were will probably do 2.25in and dump right befor the rear axle and use some turndowns. Will I need mufflers? I have the stock maniforlds, y pipe and car on right now. Were going to ditch the car and hack the y pipe to run duals. How loud will this be just strait 2.25 to the rear axle? Will I need two mufflers?

I am a cheap *** so I will probably but two thrush glasspaks and torch them then put them on there one per each side. Will this be any quieter? Will it sound ****ing badass?

If you use Glasspacks, it wont be very loud, There prity quiet, Untell they blow out. Other wise open straigt pipes will be kinda loud, but I dont think it would sound that great.

Do you plan on having a H pipe or x pipe? I had the H pipe and used to have that same setup your thinking about, i liked it at first it does sound badassz even on the lo3, idk if ground clearance will be a issue for you like it was for me. If you go with the short glasspacks it will be pretty loud on take off not so much at idle obnoxions at WOT lol, straight pipes will be even louder as you probably already know. I had pretty bad ground clearance so i took all that garbage off, and have been driving open Hooker 2055s for about a month or so now, saving for that catback lol.

Re: duals on 89 RS

what should I use for a muffler? I am looking into a hooker aerochamber 2x 2 1/4 in and out. My car sounds ****ing badass at WOT with headers and straightpipes... hell yea!

Flomaster single chamber race mufflers...

I run them on my duals, and I have NO complaints...

Ok cool, I think I am going to go with one hooker aerochamber or maybe two. I am not sure yet. Bu tdeffinatly need some mufflers, sounds like **** without them just open duals, unless Im going WOT then it sounds mean.

Re: duals on 89 RS

to run true duals its a good idea to go with atleast and h pipe if u dont want an x. as for mufflers. its a bear to fit bigger mufflers like hookers or flowmasters. there is a 97 t/a where i live that ran just glasspacks dumped and the ground clearance is miserable. straight pipes is obnoxious in my opinion. i am currently running a single 3" straight pipe out the back of my L03. but not by choice. i was a stopping point, and couldnt decide what muffler i wanted. but by time i got a muffler. i bent a valve. anyways, sorry. i would definately throw some round style mufflers on there just to help with clearance. good luck. i hope it sounds good with what ever u do. oh yeah someone made comment that glasspacks flow terrible. i would disregaurd that statement. they get the job done.
