Glass Pack Size?
Glass Pack Size?
My stock muffler has finally bit the dust on my all stock 89 IROC-Z 5.7. I think I will be buying a cat back system at some time but right now I dont have the $. But there is still some time left before I put her up for the winter salty months.
I was thinking about just taking the muffler off and putting a cherry bomb glass pack in its place for a temp fix and to see how it sounds since its cheap and I can do it myself.
However, I have never messed with an exhaust system so I need some help with the diameter and length of glass pack to buy. I assume I just messure the pipe once I remove the muffler? Or should I go a little bigger?
My exhaust system other than the muffler is in good shape. Both cats look good and the Y is in good shape. The pipe all the way back to the muffler is also fine.
Thanks for your time and input.

Re: Glass Pack Size?
Do it right or not at all
Glasspacks come in multiple lengths and diameters
Longer ones usually sound better but go with whatever fits in the space you have
If you put it in the stock location then youll only have the option of single side exhaust
You can put it near the driveshaft and dump before the rear axle too
All options are a waste of money if you plant on a new catback anyways
Just wait on that
They're not THAT expensive unless you go top name brand like Borla or Corsa
