Alright,

I bought a 90 RS (Original 305 TBI). Before I bought the car the owner dropped in a carbed 350 in her for more power. He also put in a POS Carb and a pair of long headers. Now, I've had quite a bit of a problem with the heads because the bolts loosen all the time and the header on the passenger side rubs on the car. Now because of where it is I can't tell exactly where it is rubbing. I'm pretty positive, however, that it is rubbing on the frame. Now I want to replace the exhaust system with a true dual exhaust. And I know that, first of all No carbed engine is legal in any state on a 3rd gen and I also know that it is illegal to run a dual exhaust without the cat. conv. I just want to know if anybody has a suggestion on headers, because, as far as I'm concerned right now I"m just going back to manifolds. I know headers are supposed to be better, but I don't have the time, resources, or knowledge to start hacking my car apart to keep them from rubbing...... Any help would be greatly appreciated....

If the car came carbed it is perfectly legal, I just don't think you are allowed to swap fuel delivery systems. And no cat is illegal on ANY street car.

Ya I know that if it came carbed it is legal but it didn't so my set-up won't be legal either way. Just trying to find out if anyone suggests any headers because the set I have is giving me problems. The main problem being that the passenger side is rubbing the frame

Re: Headers?
See the sticky thread at the top of the Exhaust forum. "What's the best exhaust? What are the best headers?"
