I have a 90 formula 5.0 5 speed and was wondering what shorty headers will fit the stock ypipe.I dont care is I have to cut the flares off the ypipe as long as they will fit the headers.was thinking about the cheap ones summitracing sells but in the notes it says will not fit stock ypipe.so anyone know what I can get that will fit?
and by the way my pipe from cat back is only 2 1/4",I thought all 3rd gens with v8 were atleast 2 1/2 or 3"

None (and why would you want headers with an incredibly restrictive OE Y-pipe). I, too, was shocked long ago to find that the after market intermediate pipe at 2.5" was larger than the OE. Buy headers with the manufacture's accompanying Y-pipe.Originally Posted by my90bird

As I've posted before, no headers will bolt to the stock y-pipe. And you cannot mix and match headers and y-pipes from different companies. They are a matched set and must stay together.
I suppose you could cut off part of the stock y-pipe and customize it to join with your headers, but why go to all that trouble?
So its best getting the headers and the y pipe together are the headman good ones or no

Not in my opinion. The board favorties are Dyno Don's and the Hooker 2055's. You might consider a search to see what members think.Originally Posted by JR350tpi

Has anyone put straight pipes to the rear with dual cats? I have hooker headers right now. Can't fine the right combination.
