Confused on headers

I have an 89 rs that had the 2.8. I'm putting a 5.0 out of a Chevy caprice into it. All the 305 look similar in size just curious on what type of header to use to be a good fit under the hood ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: Confused on headers

You will need 3rd gen specific headers, nothing else will fit.
I got a set of 2460 Hooker headers from a member here, they fit very well with little interference.

I'm gonna answer this as it is written. No, just because they fit the motor doesn't not mean they will fit in the car. You need to order headers for your year camaro but choose options of it being a 5.0.

Any third generation camaro 305 headers will fit. But there are plenty of headers for a 305 motor that will bolt to the motor but not fit in the car.

Re: Confused on headers

any 82-92 Fbody (Camaro/Firebird) Headers for a V8 will work. 305 and 350 headers are interchangeable.

NO BODY makes headers that just plain fit. they all have to be beat to hell somewhere. which , in my opinion, makes them junk.

I've got a set of shorties on my car that clear everything and required no beating.

The point being if he orders longtubes for a 305 silverado there's not a snowballs chance they will fit. If he orders headers for a 305 his year camaro he may or may not have a little work to do but it will fit. We're not shooting for semantics, or what others have said online

Re: Confused on headers

Go to summit racing.com search for headers, then plug in your make and model with the v8. It will show pretty much everything that will fit. Hooker, Hedman and Dougs have the best rep on here. Hedman for price and fit Hooker best compromise Dougs probably the best but pricey. Summit cheap. Don't have to buy them there but it will tell you what's out there that fits.
