Need advice for exhaust change.....

Hi,

I brought the GMPP 350HO Deluxe crate (330hp/380tq) back in 2003, with Hookers LT headers , the Mufflex offroad y-pipe and the Catback 3.5inch with spintech muffler.

After 5 years, i can`t stand anymore the rubbing of the headers and y-pipes (that are underneath the tranny and front subframe) on the road when i hit mild bumps.

2 questions here:

I want my ground clearance back so i want to go back to Shorties, my main consern is that i want to know is how much flow my engine require. If i go with the hookers shorties with the y-pipe is the flow is gonna be enough with my Crate Engine because once the y-pipe collects, its gonna be a single 3'' pipe before it goes back to my 3.5'' catback.

Is that single 3'' part of my whole exhaust is gonna be a problem for my engine flow???

And to have that setup, i will have to change my Subframe, i'm currently using Competition Engineering Bolt-on boxshaped version. I want to switch to the Spohn welded, are those good for factory style exhaust route??

Thanks,
David

Re: Need advice for exhaust change.....

I'm using the following direct-fit, three-inch system with my 350HO Deluxe: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055), Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118), and Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR). Flow isn't a problem. Sound at idle and at cruise is such that you can listen to music and/or carry on a conversation. At WOT the snarl is nasty.

No problems with ground clearance. I'm running Global West SFC's.

What did u do with the A.I.R. system on the headers??

As for the Cats, im not using them since where i'm from, my car is exempt from any emission regulations.

Cut and welded. There are no emissions in Kansas either, but I chose to go with a cat.
