HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

I`ve read the stickies and searched but cant seem to find A sound clip differance between the aerochamber and the hooker max flow. The thirdgen header option chart which mufflers were used in those hooker cat back sound clips.Summit says its the aerochamber with those part numbers.

So i dont like the sound of my flowmaster since I put my 2460`s and custom y.Its just way to loud at certain rpm`s.I`ve hears the aerochamber in person but not the max flow.Is it going to be that much louder or about the same as arochamber.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

The max flow should actually probably be quieter than the aerochamber. There is a '69 Camaro that races at my track all the time and absolutely love how it sounds, it has that nice Corvette sound to it. After inquiring about the exhaust I found that the owner was using max flow mufflers.

I have a max flow, I have yet to hook it up, I'll be sure to post how it sounds after I get it hooked up.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

I`m looking for a quieter exhaust.Mine is way loud, even at part throttle, for my likeing.Stock sound With better than stock performance.I think I like the way that sounds.

kkingsrulee,be sure to post up your opinion and a sound clip if possible.Do you have headers or other exhaust mods.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

I have Hooker 2055 shorty headers and a magnaflow cat.

I'll probably have it in in about a week or two.

I've heard a lot of people enjoy the aerochamber mufflers, it's very tame at idle, but I've heard that it's really good under load, preferably at WOT.

Wannafbody has an opinion based off of the idle sound of it.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

Everytime someone asks about an exhaust system or catback I can't help but tell them about my Magnaflow system. I use to have a 3" powerstick chambered muffler on my car which I put in the I-pipe. I have Hedman LT headers, custom 3" ypipe, 3" Spun/PowerDyne cat and the Powerstick that went into an SLP LM1 system. My car sounded like hell on wheels. Sounded absolutely perfect. But, it was too damn loud for normal driving around the city, police etc. So, I sold it off and picked up this Magnaflow catback off my buddy. The sound of this exhaust is awesome. I love it even after my previous setup. You won't go wrong buying a Magnaflow catback dude. It's stainless steel, uses all the proper 3rdgen hangers (unless you get the 4thgen version like I did), has nice polished tips. Ditch the Hooker stuff and go for this, you won't be disappointed.

Fairly quiet at idle (depends on the mods of the motor), decently loud throughout the rpm range with normal driving but if you ever want to drop the go-pedal, this exhaust screams! It's night and day!

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

The aerochamber I`ve heard in person sounded good to me.It was behind a stock 350 TPI,stock manifolds,no cat,and 3" I pipe.I didnt think it was quiet. However I`m wondering about the max flow hooker muffler.I would like a magnaflow muffler but thats all I need is the mufler.I lready have a cat back, custom y and 2460 headers with no cat 3" flowmaster I pipe.I`m just looking at the hooker mufflers cause they`re about half the price as the magnaflow and I dont need stainless steel.Mufflers last a long time down here.

no mine is quiet all the time, quiet quiet quiet. it belongs on my grandmas car
Do you want to get rid of your aerochamber, wannafbody?

I have a magnaflow dual 2.5" inlet/dual 2.5 outlet that a friend gave me.I was thinking about trying to put it in behind my 2.5 dual y-pipe kinda where my cat should be and running it into my 3"I pipe and duping it after the axle or something.Just not sure How it would sound with the muffler that far up.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

The reason I got the Max Flow muffler is because of the flow numbers that it boasts. Better than both magnaflow and flowmaster, and that's all I care about.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

Wednesday, haha. It's taken a while, but I left a $50 deposit to have them order the 3 inch piping, but it will be done wednesday.

I'll be sure to tell you guys how it sounds, performs vs. stock.

Re: HOOKER AEROCHAMBER OR MAX FLOW

Picked it up from the muffler shop last night after class. It's much quieter than it was (I was running 2055's through the y to a 3 inch magnaflow cat, sounded like nascar prior to the muffler being installed) And it is a bit quiter than my car was before the 2055's, stock exhaust with no muffler.

But it does not by any means belong on a grandma's car (the maxflow anyway), you can hear it at idle, sounds nice, and it really wakes up above 3 grand.

I never really pushed the car when I was running the 2055's ending at the 3 inch cat, but I pushed it a bit this morning and it really does feel faster than the stock manifolds (Better hope so!). Primarily in the upwards of 3,000 RPM, where as with the stock manifolds the engine would die down a bit here, it keeps pulling pretty well.

I'm very satisfied.

Though there is a vibration when you barely rest your foot on the clutch pedal while at idle, you can feel the flywheel spinning.

I am hoping that the way I was running it before I put a muffler on it was causing so much vibration that I just couldn't feel this before.

Yeah, I might be able to get a short clip of it tomorrow, if not maybe tuesday, I'm busy with work among other things in between.

But I'll get one by tuesday at least.
