Muffler and cat questions.
Well, I'm pretty sure my muffler took a dump. When the car is running it makes popping noises like when you turn off your car when its hot, it makes those kind of noises but louder. I looked at it today and made sure everything was tight and secure. I knocked on it and could hear metal loose in the inside of the muffler... Its weird because its the stock muffler, but there is absolutely no rust on it, no dents, its in amazing shape on the outside. I noticed the car is a little slower too. I don't have the cash for a catback atm so I have to settle just for replacing the muffler. So the questions I have are: Will changing just the muffler to say a Magnaflow give me any power? Will it effect the exhaust note dramatically? I am looking at getting a new catalytic converter too. My car is an 88 with a 350TPI engine and right now it has a single converter. Will THIS dual converter set up fit my car? I would be taking it to an exhaust shop to have the converters put on, so is there anything out of the normal to installation? How much power would the dual cat set up get me, about 10HP? Thanks guys
