high idle after header install?

high idle after header install?
i just got done installing my edelbrock shorties on my 91 camaro 350. after everything was put back together i started it and everything was normal but then it jumped up to 2300 rpm and sat there. is this becuase the rest of the exhaust is not hooked up after the cats? its just headers then about 4 feet of pipe then it stops. is it idling high becuase the computer isnt use to the lack of backpressure? i need help...

It is not the computer compensating for the "lack of backpressure".
I am almost certain you forgot to reconnect a vacuum line.
Double, then triple check EVERYTHING.
