Todaya the sun finally came out for the first tim in a while, so I washed my iroc, fueled her up and went on a nice long drive. Ive noticed lately the exhaust has been quieter than normal, and during the trip it didnt seem to have the same power.

As soon as i got into down the engine would just dog down, has trouble even getting to 25mph. No ruble from the flowmaster but a low rumble in the engine compartment, engine was running fine but about 40 degrees hotter than normal. And a whistleing noise.

I found the whistle when i got home, where the cat slips on the y pipe there is a small leak(facing front of car) which doesn't make any sense to have that much pressure going forward..

I took my Temp gauge to the exhaust with the car running, 235degrees immediately before the cat and 130degrees after, in the muffler and both exhaust tips were 105, with almost no pressure coming out of them, it couldn't even blow out a birthday candle!

Does this sound like the cat for sure or a clog somewhere else in the system?

This car is my DD and I need it going asap

 

Sounds like a clogged cat. It happened to me on my 03 Astro, suffered for months until I replaced it. That's it man!

 

now i really am happy cut that one out of that old van at my work.
