Has anyone modified a magnaflow catback system from a 92-02 camaro to fit our cars? If so, what elese was needed?

You'll have to modify where the cat hook up is...but otherwise it'll fit pretty good.
The LT1 version fits our cars pretty good, as its pretty close. The LS1 version uses two extra hangers at the back. This is the best choice in my opinion. All you have to do is add two hangers to support the pipes. And thats easy, because LS1 hangers slip right into our cars with no issues.
Here's one of the LS1 hanger plates being slipped into my 87.

Ignore the bugger welds on my exhaust tip..my screw up.

You can see the stock thirdgen mount in the rear...which works fine. Some tweaking, and you'll be all set.

Re: magnaflow catback ?????
So you would recommend using the LS1 Magnaflow cat-back instead of the 82-92 16829 system? I'm looking into doing this soon and I want to make sure I get the right one. I read that even the 16829 cat-back needs some tweaking with the hangers, so it sounds like either way it would require some work. Is there any difference in sound or is it the same muffler?

Pretty sure its the same muffler. Or similar.
I dont know which Ide recommend. Ive read that people had to do some work to make the 82-92 system fit with the hangers.
Im just sayin even the LS1 kit works fine if you use the ls1 hangers. I personally dont know what the 82-92 kit has for hangers.
The 82-92 kit would probably fit better up near the cat area...since it would be designed to work with whatever cat they specify. The LS1 or LT1 kit will need some tweaking up there as well.
