Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Reid Fleming's GMMG sounded, at certain rpm's, kinda similar to my Powerstick muffler on my old 305. The GMMG is essentially two Powerstick type mufflers welded into the twisty piping of their dual exit system.
Here's a video of my 305 tpi car with shorty Hedmans and Hedman Y Pipe with 3" pipe going to a single 36" Powerstick muffler and straight out the back, single exit, oh and no cat. It sounded pretty good I think, especially in those "sweet spots."

Holy shoot that's cheap for the Magnaflow system.
OK I checked, and it shows $464.18 at the bandit exhaust website, but that's still way cheaper than the GMMG.
It says, "Join us and affiliate" on their website for wholesale prices...I'm not sure how that works, though.

last month it was 360$. the month before that it was 320$ and they had the option to name your own price.

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Heard a lot of good things about the Magnaflow setup. Not bad and IMHO I think they are a lot more practical than Hoe-master. I have the GMMG setup and I opted to not get their tips. The system is a beaut and sounds spectacular. I have a buddy with an 89 Iroc w a zz430 setup, dual cats and the SLP catback and my GMMG has a deeper growl at idle and sounds like a pissed off lion at WOT. My car has a 355 LT4 cammed vortec motor w/a SR. I also run dual cats.
The GMMG setup sounds its best with an LS motor but is still quite impressive in my non LS TA. Good luck with your decision making.

I bought a different brand of exhaust tip, but still oval. Then had them powdercoated black. Will post photos when I get home Friday.

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
This is the best picture I could muster at the moment. the tips are tucked 4-6 inches under the bumper.
Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Tips look good, even the S10 wheels. To the OP, magnaflow seems to be the catback for you. Someone that's more interested in the way it looks rather then performs. I'm a fan of tucked up, almost hidden tips so having big oval tips like the GMMG setup has, I'm not a fan. I've owned Magnaflow catbacks for 3rdgens and had the same setup on my '95 Z28 last year before I switched that out for a SLP Loudmouth/Powerstick setup which I loved! The vid New2Chevy posted of his exhaust sounds dead on with what powersticks sound like. I like them more then the GMMG. For the cost alone, magnaflow is the way to go. You can build a GMMG setup or something similar for much less money. I've had countless exhaust systems over the years and my powerstick setup by far was the best sounding, flowing exhaust I've had and wouldn't hesitate to use it again. In fact, I have a powerstick muffler waiting to go on my 87 Z28 that will have an LQ9/T56/9"

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Interesting dilemma. I really wish Corsa sold just their mufflers instead of complete systems. I had full longtube headers w/ race cats and Corsa Sports on my 2005 'vette, and it was a fantastic sound. The best part was little to no droning at cruising speeds.
The GMMG seems to be a classic choice, but I want to err on the side of having a classy sounding exhaust. I have bone stock exhaust with the dual converters in it. It has two factory dumps that are visible; I'd like to have hidden ones.

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Does the Magnaflow kit bolt on to the factory dual converter setup, or will I have to do some cutting/welding?

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
Still would like to see more pics of the plain round tips (not the optional oval tips) coming out of the GMMG, like on that Firehawk. Would also like to see how they look when looking at the car from the side.
EDIT: More pics of the Magnaflow would be appreciated too, I still have a feeling the Mag looks gaudy/obnoxious.

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
I love my magnaflow system for basically the same reasons everybody else does.... cheap, high quality, great sound but not overwhelming, and little/no drone when cruising. Here are a few clips of my car with the magnaflow and a stock 305 TPI.

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
For you guys who want to save $80 on a GMMG.. i finally found out who makes the GMMG exhaust for them.. and yes its been confirmed over on LS1tech.com
Madhammer.com he is the one that made the chambered mufflers and pipes for them, then GMMG puts them together and calls it their own.
He now sells them himself for $675 for the exhaust WITH tips
OR
$625 for the system without tips.
hope this helps

Re: GMMG or Magnaflow Catback?
I'm reviving this, due to me having the same dilemma on which to choose. The GMMG system sounds good on most of the cars in the videos I've seen, but I've never heard it on a stock 305.
I'm kind of turning away from the Magnaflow after seeing the pics in this thread. They look awfully gaudy to me; the tips hang too low and are too big for my tastes.
