headmen long tubes dont fit

i got the $150 headmen long tubes. passenger side went on beautifully but drivers side wont go on for anything. i can get bolts started put the bottom of headers are hitting the frame and the bend so it at such an angle i cant get headers to be flush wit heads. the only way i can see to get them on is to cut or shave down kmember and i really dont want to do that... anyone else have this problem???

Re: headmen long tubes dont fit

I've read in other posts that some people had trouble getting headers to fit properly because of worn out engine mounts. Just an idea!

Re: headmen long tubes dont fit

My Hedman LT's wouldn't clear either. I grinded on the K-member in both spots that were hitting and it fit a little better but not good enough. I just got some shorties instead so if someone wants to buy my coated LT's, I'll sell cheap.

Re: headmen long tubes dont fit

wow, good info, cause i was considering headman lt's for a while. but with regaurds to the motor mount nuts... whew thats a job. I just replaced mine, if your not willing to remove your control arms like i did (just replaced all bushings) might i suggest some shorty wrenches and a partner. took me 3 hours to pull the nuts by myself, with and extran hand i could of done it in like 5 minutes. but thats why its a project car and a garage queen lol.. you could just remove the coils to get to the nuts which will get you in buisness, with the right tools that is not that big of a job...

Re: headmen long tubes dont fit

I put them on mine, I had to trim the drivers side k member very little. But the pass side was wicked and ended up dinging my header to get it to fit. I guess every car if different a little bit.

Re: headmen long tubes dont fit

lmao.... yeaaaaaaaa... mine does that now. with the factory pipes and rusted aftermarket muffler. I just dont like the sound. I prefer a quit car that gets rowdy when i romp on it. I have no idea what muffler i have on it now, im guessing flowmaster, 1 in 2 out sort. but really its only slightly quieter than glasspacks
