Gutted cat vs ....... see inside

Have had a couple of vehicles with gutted cats for years. Honestly the factory shell will last forever as should the stainless version above.
Read a few posts through the years the large open cavity of the gutted cat could be bad for flow and sound funny ?
Those with some experience in this area talk to me.
Thanks,
Bill

i just have to say its about time someone made a straight pipe with a shell of a cat around it. always thought it would be a neat marketing strategy. kind of risky though imo.

umm.. you can do this already with your own cats.. just take a baseball bat or broom handle, knock out the element in the cat, get a piece of pipe and shove it through and weld it...

I've yet to hear a car with straight pipe or a gutted cat that sounded good. They always end up sounding like white trash Chevy pickups. Unless the car is a beater, I'd sell plasma, or work overtime to swing a new high flow cat. It's not like a functioning cat is really slowing any of these cars down anyway.

Yeah you can make one yourself. and with a magnaflow converter it'll actually have the legal # on it for california people on it. If you have a converter that doesnt have the proper CARB # on it. Your still in the wrong. Maybe the other states it is okay. And no cats and no mufflers sounds bad. I mean older car dont have cats and they sound good!

on my 305 TBI that I'm restoring
, nah, not at all. I still have the muffler in the rear. It has hedman shorties and y pipe.
if you want loud, then try my 07 Stang with Pypes Violators or my 4th gen with long tubes, off road Y and magnaflow.
