Which is quieter, straight pipe or bullets/glasspacks?

Probably a rookie question.

My current setup is shorty headers, true duals with no connecting pipe, going back over the axle, into bullets/glasspacks/cherrybombs (not sure which it is), then to the tips.

My question is, would it be quieter if I put straight pipes in place of the bullets/glasspacks/cherrybombs
If not quieter, what would it do? Right now, it is pretty quiet at idle.

i have a very similar setup. I've run with and without bullets.... its MUCH louder with straight pipes. You hear more "cam" in the motor...its a different tone. I'd keep the mufflers. If you want more quiet, replace the bullet with a thicker cored round muffler like dynomax Ultraflo round or a magnaflo equivalent

Re: Which is quieter, straight pipe or bullets/glasspacks?

Is your exhaust raspy? I guess that would be what I'm trying to get at. By loud I mean there is a lot of rasp high up. When taking off with pep or accelerting from cruising. By quiet I mean deep.
Like loud=brap-brap-brap-brap, quiet=brump--brump--brump--brump.

I know this is a mustang, but to achieve something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSXhf5Bu7rI, it would definitely be a muffler. I think I just answered my own question.

Just wondering this because the rasp could get annoying when on the highway.
Comparing the stock exhaust on my '82 (what my '83 had originally) to this setup on my '83, the stock is much deeper and less raspy.

I'll take a clip of my exhaust tomorrow and let me know what you guys think.

Those are new terms for rasp and deep sounds haha. Not really the same thing but ok.

Bullets are known for a rasp but I dont really have a rasp. I have an x-pipe in my system which helps eliminate rasp. I'd call it a deep smooth sound.

if you dont have a H or x pipe, i'd install one.

It's kinda different in real life.

Excuse the clunking, it's not completely mounted as I'm figuring out what I want.
