trouble removing flowmaster muffler

im trying to drop my fuel tank. At the moment im stuck on trying to remove part of my cat back kit. starting with the 3"inlet to the muffler connection. ive broken the tack welds but the muffler will not slide off. ive tryed knocking it with a big hammer and block of wood. push, pull and tugging on it but the heat cycles must have worn a grove where the bolts were installed.

Any ideas? this thing must come off.

Re: trouble removing flowmaster muffler

I seperated mine at the cat, and pulled the muffler/I-pipe out over the axle.
